After buying out the minority stake of its Jamba mobile entertainment joint venture from partner VeriSign, NewsCorp has reorganized its mobile interests into a new business unit.
The new organization – Fox Mobile Group – oversees three mobile teams: the Fox Mobile Distribution group assumes responsibility for the global distribution of mobile content through different consumer brands; Fox Mobile Entertainment oversees licensing Fox Entertainment Group content to other mobile outlets; and Fox Mobile Studios is focused on developing original mobile content.
The Jamba group will be part of the Fox Mobile Distribution unit, and the brand will eventually fade as it is incorporated.
Mauro Montanaro, who was named CEO of Jamba earlier this year, will head up the new Fox Mobile Group.
VeriSign sold off its 49% stake in Jamba as part of its decision to exit the mobile industry.
