Florida Georgia Line’s epic 2013 was highlighted by the success of the single “Cruise” and album “Here’s to the Good Times” — which earned the country pair spots as finalists in four Billboard Music Awards categories this year: Top Duo/Group, Top Country Artist, Top Country Album, and Top Country Song. FGL — Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard — are also set to perform at this year’s BBMAs.

What was the highlight of the past year for you?
Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard: The past year has been such a whirlwind and so many amazing things have happened that it’s hard to pick one highlight. Working with Nelly on the remix of “Cruise” was definitely one — he’s become a close friend and mentor. We can’t wait to hit the road with him later this month.
Was there a song you couldn’t get out of your head (even if you tried)?
Hubbard: Cole Swindell’s “Chillin’ It.” So infectious and fun that I’d catch myself singing it … often!
Who was your favorite new or emerging artist?
Hubbard: There are several we’re digging right now: Thomas Rhett, the Cadillac Three, Cole Swindell and our buddy Chris Lane, who will be on the road with us this summer.
Who really knocked it out of the park, with either a music or a business move?
Brian Kelley: Definitely our band and crew on the road, who are slaying it every single night. Also, our team back in Nashville, who is always working hard. We have the best team and they continually go above and beyond for us.
Which artist that staged a comeback or finally get some overdue recognition really caught your attention?
Hubbard: We were so pumped for Justin Moore to take home the [Academy of Country Music] New Artist of the Year award. He has been working at it for awhile and the nod couldn’t have gone to a more deserving artist.
What was your favorite music-related meme or viral video?
Kelley: The goat viral remixes! Not just one —all of them.
Was there a trend you were happy to see or hear?
Hubbard: We’re into all of the cool collaborations that have been coming out this year. It’s fun to see who teams up with who and what sound they create together.
Any trend you were unhappy to see or hear?
Kelley: Not for us. Music is always changing and evolving. We love seeing and hearing what’s new and what fans are listening too.
What are your favorite things to do in Vegas — high-roller or trashy (or both)?
Hubbard: See you at the Blackjack table!
