Australian mad man Fisher has yet to bust on his mission for grooves. He’s released five originals since going solo in 2017, his latest being the Grammy-nominated sensation “Losin’ It.” Each tune is bassier and funkier than the last, and lucky number six is already shaped up to be a summer smash.
“You Little Beauty” is a jumpin’ house jam featuring a vocal sample of late disco singer Loleatta Holloway. Fisher caught up with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe to talk about “You Little Beauty,” a song he says was named after a colloquial quip from his native Gold Coast.
“‘You little beauty’ is basically what we always say on Gold Coast when everyone’s going mad, or having fun, or doing something goofy,” he says. “The vocal itself is so amazing. All I wanted to do was just put my Fisher charm to it really, and I just wanted to make a big old baseline, put some hats and a good old kick, and away we went.”
It may not be a brand-new sound for the biggest Fisher fans. The DJ dropped it during his Coachella set, and as he tells Lowe, it was actually one of the first songs he produced for the project a couple years ago. Now that the Holloway sample has been cleared, “You Little Beauty” has official release on his Catch & Release imprint via Astralwerks. You can listen to the song and his interview with Lowe below.
