Independent video producers and distributors Goldhil Entertainment and R&B Films will be jointly releasing the first commercially available title on the HD DVD and Blu-ray next-generation formats.
“Chronos,” in essence a release highlighting the audio and video advances of the competing formats by way of a travel-style program that moves from setting to setting, will premiere at the International Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 5, and will arrive in stores March 14.
According to Goldhil and R&B, the title is expected to appeal to home theater professionals and aficionados who can use the disc to demonstrate the new formats in stores or on their home systems.
Talks about consolidating the formats to create one new next-generation format are believed to be ongoing. Both formats are expected to debut next spring.
