The race to the White House in 2020 is a marathon, not a sprint. And it’s officially on, as ten candidates participated in the first Democratic presidential debate in Miami overnight. Predictably, Twitter was all over it.
Celebrities from the world of music and entertainment chimed in as Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke and others tackled a range of issues from immigration to taxes, equal pay, health insurance, gun control and more.
It’s early days, but interest in the crowded Democratic primary face-offs is clearly high as the opening session and many of its candidates trended on Twitter overnight.
The second round is booked for Thursday night. Take a look at some of the action.

I learned a ton from tonight’s #demdebate Beto hasn’t slept in a month, the taliban had nothing to do with 9/11, Cory Booker lives in a war zone, my TV’s English subtitles work, some tall guy on the left is angry, and Warren has a plan. #democraticdebate

#Trump tweeted that tonight’s #DemocraticDebate was boring. As if we aren’t aware that’s how he feels about anything he can’t eat or fuck.
