Fintage Music has struck a sub-publishing deal with 8 Mile Style covering a collection of songs written by the Detroit-based firm’s hitmaking songwriters Eminem, Luis Resto and Steve King.
Through the deal, Fintage Music will represent roughly 50 works on an ex-North America basis, comments the Leiden, Netherlands-based company’s CEO Niels Teves.
Songs covered include “Like Toy Soldiers” and “Mockingbird” from Eminem’s “Encore album, and others which appear on albums by 50 Cent, D12, Jay Z and Lloyd Banks. “This is obviously a very high profile deal for us,” Teves tells Billboard.biz.
“I think the prime target is to bring in the best collections for them that we can,” explains Teves. “Our background is in the film and TV world, so I am sure we can do (deals) for them there as well.”
In a statement, Joel Martin, managing partner of 8 Mile Style, noted that Fintage Music executive VP Bruce Lampcov was instrumental in brokering the pact.
Lampcov, a Detroit native who has forged a noteworthy career as a producer and studio engineer, established Fintage Music’s London office after joined the company last August. Prior to that, he was managing director at independent publishing firm Kobalt Music Group, with whom he helped organize a separate administration deal with 8 Mile Style.
