In a special Billboard Music Awards edition of the “Finish the Hit” video series, host Taylor Ortega hits the streets of New York City to find out how well people (and a dog) know the lyrics to songs by BBMA performers BTS, Ariana Grande and John Legend.
Starting with Ariana Grande’s “Break Free,” a couple of people are asked to complete the lyric “I only want to die alive/Never by the hands…” While the correct answer is “of a broken heart,” some incorrect guesses include “child of five” and “guy.” One woman on stilts does accurately get another lyric from the song right, though.
Moving on to John Legend’s “All of Me,” a participant is asked to finish the line “’Cause all of me, loves all of you/Love your curves and all your…” She does not accurately answer “edges,” instead opting for “side handles.”
Now if you think New Yorkers are any better at finishing a hit by BTS, then…you’re wrong. Testing their knowledge of the words to “Mic Drop,” Ortega prompts one girl with the line “Did you see my bag? (where?)/It’s hella trophies and it’s hella…”
The right answer is, of course, “thick,” but she answers “gone,” while a couple of other people – to no avail – try to finish the line “Come and follow me, follow me with your…”
If you think you can do better, then play along with the video above, and don’t forget to watch the 2018 Billboard Music Awards this Sunday May 20th at 8ET Live on NBC.
