Fellow X Factor alums, Fifth Harmony, are offering up their take on Zayn Malik’s headline-making split from One Direction, And they’re pretty bummed about it.
“We’re saddened, you know,” Lauren Jauregui told Entertainment Tonight. “Like Camila always says, it’s the end of an era. One Direction was a huge phenomenon but we definitely 110 percent respect Zayn and his decision because health and happiness come first, always.”
The girls think that “nobody” should replace Malik in the group. (1D have said they will continue on as a quartet.) Camila Cabello said “One Direction will always be One Direction.”
5H and 1D have similar backstories having competed on different versions of the X Factor before becoming household names.
Since news broke, some of Malik’s solo music has already been teased by UK producer Naughty Boy. Meanwhile, 1D has already been thinking about their next album release, the follow-up to 2014’s Four.
