U.K. rock act Feeder has teamed up with download retailer 7digital to find artists who will support the band on tour next month.
The 7digital indiestore service, which allows unsigned and independent artists to sell MP3s direct to fans, has launched a competition today to find eight winning acts who are featured on the site.
Feeder are playing eight intimate venues from May 21 to 31 in Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Manchester and Bristol, where they will preview material from their forthcoming new album.
Sixteen finalists will be chosen, with two from each of the eight cities, based on fan ratings on their music at the indiestore site. The band will then select a winner for each gig.
“We’ve been working very hard on the new album and wanted to let fans hear some of the new material in an intimate setting,” says Feeder singer Grant Nicholas in a statement. “We also wanted to give fans the chance to really get involved in our warm up gigs. As a band we are really looking forward to reviewing the entries and choosing potentially the next big act to support our gigs.”
Tejas Mistry, project manager at 7digital indiestore, says in a statement: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer indiestore artists the chance to get on stage with a big name act such as Feeder. 7digital indiestore is all about giving unsigned and independent acts the ability to promote their work and these gigs are a fantastic opportunity for bands and artists to do this alongside the professionals.”
The competition is open until May 2 and the winners will be announced on May 12. Details are available at www.indiestore.com/feeder and Indiestore artists who want to be in with a chance need to opt into the competition on the site.
