It’s been a year of both big names and surprises on top of the charts, and our staff picks for the 100 Best Pop Songs of 2016 were no different — while Beyonce, Kanye West and Ariana Grande were thoroughly predictable finishers in the top echelon, Rae Sremmurd, D.R.A.M. and a reunited A Tribe Called Quest would’ve been somewhat longer shots at year’s start. But it was that mix that made it such an exciting year for pop music, and which made it so hard for us here at Billboard to choose the one song that stood above them all.
Ultimately, we went with Rae Sremmurd and Gucci Mane’s “Black Beatles,” the unexpectedly viral smash currently enjoying its fifth week atop the Billboard Hot 100. But do you prefer the interstellar voyage of The Weeknd and Daft Punk‘s “Starboy”? Can you not resist Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign‘s invitation to “Work From Home”? Or can you not stop jamming to something outside of our top 10 altogether?
Vote for your favorite song of 2016 below, and let us know what jam, Rihanna or otherwise, you really needed this year.
