Reventón Super Estrella, one of the most successful Latin radio-hosted concerts in the country, is celebrating this year’s 15th installment in Los Angeles with eight longtime established Latin rock acts, including Café Tacvba, Enanitos Verdes and Julieta Venegas. They’ll perform on the same stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Aug. 10.
The show will also include performances by Hombres G, Beto Cuevas, Mikel Erentxun, Kinky and Moderatto. Tickets went on sale earlier Friday (June 15) and most have been sold, according to an official with the Los Angeles-based KSSE/Super Estrella 107.1 FM. The radio station is also giving away some tickets to listeners.
“We listented to our audience and we pleased them by doing a Reventón with core artists of the station,” Reventón founder Nestor “Pato” Rocha says. “We felt it was time to inject some flavor back into the mix.”
The event also marks the first time a “multi-act rock en español” concert takes place at the Staples Center, adds Rocha, who last year introduced the reunited Mexican rock band Caifanes at Los Angles’ Nokia Theatre in a special edition of the Reventón concert.
This year’s show at the Staples Center will accommodate about 15,000 fans in a concert that will start at 6 p.m. and continue for several hours in order to showcase each act. The concert was promoted on the radio station and through social media platforms and in two days saw 5,000 likes on Facebook.
“That speaks to the passion of the fans,” Rocha says. “As soon as they heard the line up, they went to Facebook.”
Each year the concert series has sold out every show and has included some of the most recognized names in Latin music.
