In honor of Memorial Day, music talent competition Web site FameCast will add an Armed Forces stage to its existing 12 genre platforms.
U.S. military personnel will now have their own digital stage to upload video music performances to the FameCast Web site for a chance to win $10,000. Other FameCast platforms include pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, country, metal, singer-songwriter, spoken word, comedy, dance, short film and animation.
To participate in season two of the competition, online contestants can create a free user profile and upload a recorded performance to the appropriate musical stage. Viewers will then watch the videos and vote on a winner, which will be announced July 4.
Last year’s FameCast winner was R&B artist Melissa Suzanne, who will appear on Sony BMG’s Popkomm 2007 compilation, to be released in conjunction with this year’s festival in Berlin.
FameCast’s advisory board includes Randy Phillips, president/CEO of AEG Live; Charles Attal of Charles Attal Presents, and C3 Management and Promotions; and Paul Korzilius, manager of Bon Jovi.
