Facebook Groups was the leading update among several the social service unveiled yesterday. Groups allows users to create multiple private groups so they can send photos, content, posts and so on, to each other while restricting others outside the group. So, for instance, content meant for family can’t be see by co-workers, even if members in both camps are Facebook friends with that user.
The move was almost certainly a response to many of the privacy complaints Facebook gets, as before Groups was launched it was very difficult to parse out which type of “friend” could see what type of content.
Others updates unveiled yesterday include the ability to download all your profile information and content into a .zip file and a dashboard that details all the sites and apps with permission to access profile information and make changes.
