Epic Rights and Perryscope Productions have inked a deal with Experience Hendrix, which oversees the legacy of Jimi Hendrix, to launch a new, wide-ranging Authentic Hendrix merchandise program.
Launching at Licensing Expo in late May, the Authentic Hendrix brand program will include fashion apparel, headwear, footwear, tops, figures, wall art, accessories, jewelry, home décor, digital products, collectibles and never-before-licensed products from a wealth of material handed down from Authentic Hendrix and Experience Hendrix. The new Authentic Hendrix merchandise will begin arriving at retail by early summer 2018. The late guitar legend’s merchandise and branding previously went through Bravado.
“We’re very intentional about giving our fans and friends something they’ll truly enjoy and appreciate—something that celebrates Jimi and his extraordinary spirit,” said Janie Hendrix, CEO/President of Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix. “Epic Rights and Perryscope Productions understand that. We’re excited about the collaboration. And having it coincide with the release of Both Sides of the Sky makes this even more exciting.”
Both Sides of the Sky, released March 9 by Experience Hendrix and Sony’s Legacy Recordings, featured 13 studio recordings made between 1968 and 1970 by Hendrix, ten of which had never before been released.
Epic Rights CEO Dell Furano and Perryscope Productions CEO Norman Perry jointly stated: “Jimi Hendrix embodied an iconic artistry and unparalleled musical talent with an incredible sense of style that is recognized worldwide with multiple generations of fans. We simply could not be more excited to work with Janie and her team to take the Jimi Hendrix brand to a new level.”
Los Angeles-based Epic Rights represents retail branding, merchandising and more for a number of artists, including Madonna, Celine Dion, Def Leppard, David Bowie and John Lennon. New York-based Perryscope handles global licensing and merchandising for such clients as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Janis Joplin and Muddy Waters.
