The German affiliates of Sony Music and Universal Music each lost a key executive today (March 12).
In a surprise move, Volker Neumüller, GM of Epic Germany, exited after two years. According to a statement, the Epic team in Germany now reports to Boris Löhe, managing director of Sony Domestic, who, in turn, reports to Balthasar Schramm, president of Sony Music Germany/Switzerland/Austria. No successor for Neumüller is likely to be appointed. Neumüller joined Sony from BMG Berlin, where he was A&R director.
Separately, Joachim Kirschstein, MD of Universal’s strategic-marketing division in Germany, has exited. A spokesperson for the major declined to comment on his departure. Kirchstein had held the role since 2001.
