Sam Tiba’s name may not yet ring a bell, but his talents have already made a mark.
The French producer comprises one fourth of Club Cheval, the multifaceted production outfit that played a significant role in shaping the sound of ascendant French dance label Bromance. After contributing to two Club Cheval releases on Bromance and collaborating with label boss Brodinski, the stage was set for Tiba to spread his solo wings.
His new single “Deguisement” finds Tiba striking a more upbeat and wistful tone than most of Bromance’s darker output. The track cavorts through a shifting sequence of stripped-down beats, thoughtful string passages and stuttered chord hits while Tiba’s own pitch-shifted voice flits in and out to complement the overall airy feel.
“The vibe is kinda sad, and this EP is special to me, because it’s about something I lost, or wasted, or whatever you call it, and in the end, I tried to say goodbye through music,” says Tiba. “But it’s not pitch black. There’s a lot of hope in it. After rain comes the sun.”

“Deguisement” closes out Tiba’s three-track Samuel EP, which the producer describes as “80 percent thinking and 20 percent of actual production. I kept changing my mind about where to go, and events in my personal life added various emotions to what was already there,” says Tiba.
Sam Tiba’s Samuel EP will be available through Bromance on Sept. 10, and can be pre-ordered on iTunes.
