Grammy Award-winning singer Lalah Hathaway will release her seventh album through a new partnership between Hathaway Entertainment and distributor eOne Music. Lalah Hathaway LIVE! is due Oct. 30. It’s available now for pre-order on Amazon.
Recorded live earlier this year at the Troubadour Theater in Los Angeles, Hathaway’s upcoming album echoes her late father Donny’s seminal 1972 set Donny Hathaway Live — half of which was recorded at the same venue.
Preceding the new album’s arrival are dual singles: a cover of the Anita Baker classic “Angel” and Donny’s live album gem “Little Ghetto Boy.” The former track will be released to radio on Aug. 3. The latter will be released simultaneously as a viral single. The pair will become available through iTunes on Aug. 7. Both songs will also feature video clips for their release.
“Lalah Hathaway is a world-class artist with a rich history and talent,” says Phil Thornton, eOne Music’s VP/GM of urban inspirational. “eOne is excited to work with someone of her stature and continue that success.”
Calling Lalah Hathaway LIVE! “a dream fulfilled,” Hathaway is also marking her 25th year as a recording artist. The singer/songwriter won a Grammy in February for best traditional R&B performance along with Robert Glasper and Malcolm-Jamal Warner for “Jesus Children.” She won her first Grammy a year earlier for best R&B performance with Snarky Puppy for “Something.”
