It’s been a bit since the dance world heard from BT, but that’s about to change.
Since releasing his sprawling A Song Across Wires album on Armada last year, the Grammy-nominated artist has been busy hammering out a fully analog album with English vocalist Christian Burns under new joint moniker All Hail the Silence.
In advance of their album and forthcoming tour in support of Erasure, the artists elected to release a collaborative single that showcases the synergies between BT’s polished production style and Burns’ pop-conscious songwriting.
On “Paralyzed,” Burns’ soothing verses flit above delicate acoustic guitars in advance of the track’s upbeat synth-driven drop, which carries the chorus amid organ flourishes and electro bass warbles.

Billboard: Talk a bit about the concept behind “Paralyzed.”
BT: This is one of seven songs Christian and I wrote together on a fall writing retreat at my place. I played bass and Christian sang in my kitchen; we probably wrote this in 10 minutes. I loved this song from the moment we wrote it. Christian writes amazing lyrics and melodies.
What was your creative process on the track?
Acoustic instruments and a microphone. Same as always! In my opinion, anything that starts at a computer is inherently flawed.
How did the collaboration with Christian Burns come together? What was working with him like?
Christian and I met on tour with Tiësto years ago. There was an instant creative spark between us. So much so that after we wrote about 10 songs together, we decided to start a band, now called All Hail the Silence. We are opening up for Erasure this fall. It’s an ’80s synth wave project that hat tips to all of our heroes, including Vince Clarke, Yaz, Human League, Blancmange, Ultravox, Depeche.
We recorded the album in a basement in Baltimore at a synth enthusiast’s private collection. There are no computers on the album. I literally spent about six-seven hours on a song patch cabling together a kick drum on a system 100. Everything had to be printed in a single session, because all the patches were lost every time you shut down the studio. Just like the ’80s. It was amazing. I can’t wait for people to hear this music.
What else can we expect from BT in the future?
All Hail the Silence, my new software with development partners iZotope called BreakTweaker… and I scored the new Anthony Hopkins film Solace coming this fall.
