Former EMI Music publishing executive Jonathan Channon is teaming with Dutch giant Imagem to launch a joint TV and Film venture Imagem FTV.
The newly-created division of Imagem, which reps publishing rights for such songwriters as Elvis Presley, Pink Floyd, Ludacris and Daft Punk, is setting its sights on managing the music publishing assets of broadcasters, production companies and other media entities, the parties said.
One of the division’s launch deals is a global partnership with British independent international distribution banner Avalon Distribution. Home to television production companies Avalon Television, Flame TV, Topical Television, Tinderbox Television and Liberty Bell Productions, it also distributes programming for such sitcoms as Not Going Out, Heir Hunters and the Rose D’Or awards show.
The agreement will see Imagem FTV manage and exploit Avalon’s library of owned composed music and collect royalties on behalf of all Avalon Distribution clients.
One of Channon’s early ventures when he was at EMI was packaging the music deal for Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting.
Imagem Music U.K. CEO John Minch credits Channon for helping “producers, broadcasters and film studios understand the value of music and IP ownership.”
