Eventus Entertainment/Latinum Music, the label arm of concert promotions company Eventus, today released what it says is salsa legend Celia Cruz’ first live solo album. “Su Música por el Mundo,” distributed by Sony, contains live versions of “La Vida es un Carnaval” and “Canto a La Habana,” among other songs. Cruz’ last live recording was a PBS special in 1999, “Celia Cruz and Friends,” with artists such as La India, Tito Puente and
Johnny Pacheco.
“Su Música por el Mundo” comes out on what would have been Cruz’ 83rd birthday. She passed away in 2003. Eventus represents the Cruz estate for licensing and commercialization of her name. The company’s VP of entertainment Omer Pardillo-Cid was Cruz’ manager and trustee of her estate.
