The Austin-based company was founded in 2008 by former Hollywood stylist and designer and social justice advocate Kirsten Dickerson, who created Raven + Lily in hopes of helping women in need in communities around the globe. Her company now employs more than 1,500 at-risk women living in Ethiopia, India, Cambodia, Kenya and the United States and provides sustainable income, health care, education and a safe work environment for these women while selling chic fashion, accessories and home goods using recycled or repurposed materials.
McRae is one of the brand’s newest supporters and wore Dickerson’s silk snakeskin-print Caftan dress ($138), which was made by single mothers and widows employed through Raven + Lily’s artisans network in Malaysia, and the AOKO necklace ($91), made from recycled brass by female artisans in Kenya.
“Kelley has been a dear friend of mine for almost two years and perfectly encapsulates the ethos of Raven + Lily. When we met, she immediately connected with our core mission to provide social justice and dignified opportunities for at-risk women, especially through the beautiful products they create,” Dickerson told Billbo
