Last month, Epik High broke the news to Billboard about their upcoming U.S. tour, teasing: “We’re going to hit as many cities as possible, you’re going to find us somewhere nearby.” The hip-hop trio didn’t lie. They’ve shared details for a 2015 North American tour which is shaping as the most extensive K-pop run in years.
Epik High has announced six dates so far on what will be the band’s first North American trek in nearly six years. While a press release and official tour poster boasts more stops will be announced, it’s already a major touring accomplishment for the trio, which can now claim the largest U.S. tour for K-pop acts since Wonder Girls went on a major 20-date run in 2010. (Crayon Pop also supported 13 dates on Lady Gaga on the “Cheek to Cheek” star’s 2014 ArtRave tour, but weren’t headliners.) Most K-pop acts keep any North American runs between two to four dates.
Epik High’s been on a roll since returning to the music scene with fall release of Shoebox. The LP landed the act their first No. 1 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart while landing at No. 9 on Heatseekers Albums. Epik High also headlined the third annual K-Pop Night Out at SXSW 2015, leading the band to become one of the most talked-about acts on Twitter while its high-profile rapper, Tablo, was one of the Top 5 most mentioned artists at the fest.
Tickets go on sale for these initial dates at 12:00pm local time on April 15 via Siva Group. Siva Group says the guys will participate in one-hour meet and greets with fans that include a handshake and photograph. Fans are also being encouraged to request other cities via the phrase “#EpikHighTour” on Twitter or on the app MyMusicTaste.
