Lynn Hazan, former executive vice president and general manager of RED Distribution and the Independent Online Distribution Alliance, is taking over as general manager and Chief Financial Officer at Epic Records. The move puts Hazan in charge of all financial operations, business and legal affairs, and contract administration for the label, reporting to newly-named Chief Operating Officer Mark Shimmel.
The move was announced today by Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid, who brought Shimmel into the fold in a hiring announced Jan. 18. This follows on the heels of other recent shakeups in the executive ranks at Epic, with Christopher “Tricky” Stewart named the head of A&R back in November.

“Lynn has proven herself to be a first class executive for many years. Both her creative expertise and her ability to look at the entire spectrum of the music industry will serve Epic Records well,” said Shimmel in a press release. “I couldn’t be happier than us moving forward with her on board.”
Before her role as general manager and EVP at RED, Hazan worked as CFO at RED, and was in charge of the integration of IODA to deliver music to digital service providers. She was also named one of Billboard’s Women In Music in 2011.
“It’s an exciting opportunity to be a part of building the new Epic team with a seasoned executive like Mark Shimmel,” said Hazan in the release. “Under the extraordinary leadership and creativity of Mr. Reid, I can think of no better place to take this next step in my career.”
