Enya has confirmed the track list for her next studio album, “”Amarantine,” which is due Nov. 22 via Reprise. The 12-track set is led by the title song, a sample of which can be heard on Enya’s Web site. A video has also been shot for the track. As usual, the artist collaborated on the project with producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan.
“We called the album ‘Amarantine’ to mean everlasting,” says Enya, adding that she has spent two years working on the album. “Poets use the word to describe an everlasting flower and I loved the image of that.”
“Amarantine” is the follow-up to 2000’s “A Day Without Rain,” which has sold 6.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album’s single, “Only Time,” became a radio staple in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track also reached No. 1 on the Adult Contemporary and Adult Top 40 charts.
