Entertee, the London-based events-management and production group, has clinched the contract for the U.K.’s Party in the Park series of pop music festivals for the second consecutive year.
The annual events, owned by London’s largest radio group, Capital Radio PLC, take place in Kent, Southampton, Brighton, Birmingham, Cardiff and Oxford. Though no dates have been confirmed, this year’s open-air events will be held between June and August. Performance lineups have not been announced.
The brand stems from the 5-year-old Party in the Park in Hyde Park, London, an event that was jointly set up by Capital and the Prince’s Trust charity. Until 2003, Capital’s in-house events team and local companies handled the six events outside London. Last year, Entertee became the first company to be awarded the contract to produce and manage all six. Additionally, Entertee will be responsible for corporate hospitality at this year’s Hyde Park show.
“The format is changing this year,” explains Gill Tee, Entertee managing director and former head of entertainment at Capital. “Last year, three [of the six events] in Brighton, Oxford and Southampton were free and open to everyone. And the remaining three were paid-for.” This year, while some of the shows will be free, all six Party in the Park events will be ticketed “for health and safety reasons,” Tee adds. “This is important as they are the biggest music events in their respective regions.”
Each of the six events expects to draw 30,000-40,000 people. They will be supported by their local Capital Radio stations.
