Sunny Day Real Estate/Fire Theft vocalist Jeremy Enigk is finishing his as-yet-untitled second solo effort, which, as previously reported, is due this summer on his own Lewis Hollow imprint. Among the musicians who have contributed to the album are guitarist Greg Saran, keyboardist Josh Myers, bassist Nick Macri and drummer Kannan Tupper.
They will all be on board to back Enigk on his summer tour, which will begin in July in Europe and be followed by a four-week North American jaunt. As previously reported, the artist is also confirmed to appear Aug. 4 at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
Enigk previously enthused about the new songs “Canons” (which he described as “a straightforward pop song with heavy drums and a big chorus”) and “Cage” (“it’s a mixture of pop with some punk-rock moments”). Other tracks expected to appear include “River to Sea,” “World Waits,” the surprisingly poppy “City Tonight” and “Damian Dreams.”
The upcoming album is the follow-up to Enigk’s 1996 Sub Pop solo debut, “Return of the Frog Queen.”
