If you haven’t yet discovered L.A. producer Emmit Fenn, take a seat. His upcoming Prologue EP sounds like it’s going to be a stunner. Lead single “Painting Greys” is arresting and intimate and follow-up “Woman” is hauntingly sensual, and now, Fenn shares a bit of his brighter side on “Oceans.”
“One of the main reasons why I love making music is that every time you sit down to make a song, you have a chance to do something completely different,” Fenn says in an emailed statement. “It’s something I really have fun with, and it’s pretty much the main theme for my project and the Prologue EP.”
“Oceans” is an emotional ballad with dramatic, echoing drums and chords that signal heavy meaning. Unlike most of the six tracks on the Prologue EP, “Oceans” sees Fenn pass the mic to his friend NYLO.
“I wanted to make a song that had a different voice and perspective other than my own, which I hadn’t done before,” Fenn says. “I had an instrumental idea that I really liked titled ‘Oceans’ and sent it to NYLO after she followed me on SoundCloud. A couple days later, she sent back her idea, and I fell in love with it immediately. After a couple weeks and couple different versions of the song, it finally became what it is today.”
The Prologue EP is out in full June 21, but you can become better acquainted with it at Fenn’s website. He took a lot of time and care into the EP’s presentation, teaming up with creative minds to bring each song to life with interactive art and design.
