Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” continues to gain radio play and maintains its grip on the Billboard Hot 100 for a second-straight week. This gives the rapper control of Billboard’s two major charts, after the Shady/Interscope soundtrack to “8 Mile,” in which he stars, debuted atop The Billboard 200 yesterday (Nov. 6). “Lose Yourself” has yet to breach the top-10 of Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, where it jumps 17-11 this week;
It’s all hip-hop and R&B at the top of the Hot 100, with Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott’s “Work It” jumping 3-2, the tally’s fastest-growing track at retail. “Work It” switches places with Nelly’s “Dilemma” featuring Kelly Rowland, while LL Cool J’s “Luv U Better” scoots 7-4. The latter enters its fourth-straight week atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, where “Work It” is also No. 2.
Sean Paul’s “Gimme the Light,” his first single to chart on the Hot 100, also becomes his first top-10 hit, earning an 11-10 bump this week. The cut, which has been on the Hot 100 for 29 weeks, is at No. 4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks tally.
Jay-Z snares his 12th top-10 song on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks count with “’03 Bonnie & Clyde” featuring Beyonce Knowles. Thanks in part to a performance of the song last weekend on “Saturday Night Live,” the track soars 11-7. On the Hot 100, it moves 25-17.
The top debut on the Hot 100 is Pink’s “Family Portrait,” landing at a solid No. 58 and becoming the fourth cut from her Arista album “M!ssundaztood” to garner radio play. Other newcomers include Jaheim’s “Fabulous” featuring the Rayne at No. 69, Emerson Drive’s “Fall Into Me” at No. 73, Lifehouse’s “Spin” at No. 85, and Baby’s “Do That” featuring P. Diddy at No. 88.
Elsewhere on the Hot 100, Nelly’s “Air Force Ones” featuring Kyiuan, Ali, and Murphy Lee rockets into the top-50 with a 69-40 burst, and Erick Sermon’s “React” featuring Redman flies 61-50.
On Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks roundup, Keith Urban’s “Somebody Like You” notches a fifth-straight week at No. 1. The Dixie Chicks’ “Landslide” holds at No. 2, but is gaining at radio, and may pose a threat for No. 1. Rascal Flatts’ “These Days,” up 6-3 this week, may interfere with the “Landslide” ascension.
Nirvana’s “You Know You’re Right” continues to command Billboard’s rock airplay charts, leading the Modern Rock Tracks tally for a fourth-straight week and the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart for a third. Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, however, is challenging “You Know You’re Right” with the Foo Fighters’ “All My Life,” up 3-2 on the Modern Rock Tracks tally. The Foos had a No. 1 hit on that chart in November 1999 with “Learn to Fly.”
