Eminem has reached a rather unique milestone becoming only the third person ever to have more than one billion views on YouTube, according to famecount.com. As of Monday, Feb. 21, Eminem had 1,000,163,659 YouTube views.
The rapper joins an elite club with only two other members: Justin Bieber who has 1.3 billion views and Lady Gaga with 1.189 billion views.
According to Famecount.com, a social media fame tracking company, Eminem is also on track to “dethrone Lady Gaga” as Facebook’s top living celebrity.
“Recovery,” Eminem’s 2010 release, not only had a prescient title, but sold nearly 6 million copies worldwide, took the Grammy for Rap Album of the Year and Rap Solo Performance for the single “Not Afraid” and once again catapulted rapper into the center of the pop music zeitgeist.
“At Famecount, we have watched Eminem’s social media fame explode over the last 6 months,” Daniel Dearlove, founder of Famecount said in a statement. “Eminem is only the third star in history to achieve 1 billion YouTube views, while on Facebook Eminem looks on course to take the top spot.”
The report also suggests Eminem should watch his back or perhaps just his duet partner. Coming up strong from behind is Rihanna, who is poised to break the 1 billion YouTube view mark herself in the next few weeks.
