When you’ve just moved into spanking new digs and you need to shout about it, there’s no better hype man in the game than Eminem.
The rap superstar got the crowd worked up Wednesday night (Oct. 18) when the Detroit Pistons opened their NBA season in Little Caesars Arena, a new facility that returns the club to Motor City for the first time in almost four decades.
Marshall Mathers, wearing a hoodie and a Pistons shirt, grabbed the mic and welcomed the team back “to our city” just before tip-off in the game against Charlotte Hornets.
Eminem is an avowed supporter of the NBA’s “Bad Boys.” Though he aggressively avoids partnering with brands, Slim Shady appeared in an ad for the club in 2015 where he reaching into the team’s fridge and pulled out a container labeled “mom’s spaghetti,” a sly nod to the oft-meme’d lyric in “Lose Yourself.”
For the record, the Pistons beat the Hornets 102-90. Eminem ninth studio album is coming (sometime) soon. Watch him work the crowd below.
Yep, this happened.
