EMI Music has promoted Piotr Kabaj to become chairman of EMI Music Eastern Europe and head of A&R, Eastern Europe; he was previously EMI Music Poland chairman/managing director.
Kabaj will manage the label’s businesses, including licensing and distribution deals, in Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
In his A&R capacity, Kabaj reports to Billy Mann, president of EMI Music’s A&R Labels – International. In his chairman role, he reports to David Kassler, president of EMI Music Europe/Middle East/Africa.
Reporting to Kabaj are Vladimir Kocandrie, head of A&R/country manager at EMI Music Czech Republic, and Judit Szekeres, head of A&R/country manager at EMI Music Hungary.
Kabaj became head of EMI Music Poland after it was formed as a joint venture in 1995 Pomaton, the major’s former Polish licensee which he had co-founded.
