EMI Music Publishing U.K. has struck a long-term arrangement to administer the music publishing rights for New Regency Productions in the world outside North America and Italy.
The deal, unveiled today (Aug. 19), covers the catalog and future rights to the original music contained in the New Regency repertoire of film and TV productions.
Founded by film producer Arnon Milchan in 1991, New Regency is the film and TV division of L.A.-based Regency Enterprises.
“This important deal is yet another step for EMI Music Publishing to consolidate itself into the important film and TV markets”, comments Guy Moot, managing director of the publishing giant’s London-based affiliate. “In addition it allows us to open up new areas for all our writers commercially and creatively.” Moot brokered the deal with EMI Music Publishing senior VP film, TV and media Jonathan Channon.
New Regency has produced more than 80 feature films, including “L.A. Confidential,” “Entrapment,” “Heat,” “Fight Club,” and current blockbuster “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.” Regency’s film activities are distributed through Twentieth Century Fox. Its television endeavors are developed and produced through Regency Television, a joint-venture between Regency and Fox Television Studios.
