EMI Music Publishing has appointed Hunter Murtaugh as its first creative director for strategic music marketing. He will serve as senior VP in EMI’s music services division, headed by Joanne Boris, executive VP of music services.
Based in New York, Murtaugh’s responsibilities will include helping companies build their brands by using the power of music. He will work closely with EMI’s music resources group to match music to message.
Murtaugh was previously director of music and a founding partner at McGarry Bowen Advertising in New York. His clients included Verizon, Coca Cola, Reebok and Disney.

Previously Murtaugh also served as VP of music for Paramount Pictures, reporting directly to Jeff Katzenberg and Michael Eisner. From 1981 to 1998, he supervised all music and radio production for broadcast for Young & Rubicam in New York.
Murtaugh has overseen production for more than 20 movie soundtracks, including Star Trek, American Gigolo, Urban Cowboy, Cat People and Airplane. He has also produced vocal tracks and voice-overs for Michael Bolton, Ray Charles, Marlon Brando, Bruce Willis and others.
