EMI Music Publishing extended its agreement with Jody Gerson to continue serving as the publisher’s executive VP creative (West Coast) in Los Angeles, reporting to chairman/CEO Martin Bandier.
Gerson joined EMI in 1989 and has been responsible for a number of high-profile signings, including Alicia Keys, Enrique Iglesias, Norah Jones, Audioslave’s Chris Cornell, Kelly Clarkson, Jermaine Dupri and Dallas Austin.
Billboard selected Gerson as one of the top 20 women power players in the music industry last month.
“Jody is truly one of a kind and has been a pivotal part of our industry leading creative team,” Bandier says. “I am confident that she will continue to identify and develop new talent and find great songs, with a keen eye for what lays ahead in our industry.”
Gerson’s father and grandfather, Charles and Dallas Gerson, owned and operated the legendary Latin Casino Nightclub in Cherry Hill, N.J., where such artists as Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Richard Pryor and the Temptations performed.
