EMI Music has struck an exclusive multi-territory agreement to license and distribute repertoire from independent European rock and metal specialist record company Century Media.
Through the pact, unveiled today (July 29), EMI will distribute Century Media product in the United Kingdom and Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The arrangement marks the first time that Century Media’s European distribution has been consolidated under one company.
“This is a terrific opportunity to broaden EMI’s relationship with one of the key players in the independent sector,” comments Jean-Francois Cecillon, chairman/CEO of EMI Music Continental Europe.
The first album distributed by EMI under the terms of the new deal is Seattle band Nevermore’s “This Godless Endeavor,” which was released Monday (July 25).
Century Media has a roster of more than 70 artists including Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Napalm Death, Shadows Fall and Dark Tranquillity. The company’s repertoire has been distributed in the United States by EMI-owned Caroline since 1997.
Founded in 1989 by Robert Kampf, Century Media is based in London and Dortmund, Germany, and has further local operations in the United States and Brazil.
