EMI Music has introduced two global priorities teams to focus on major international releases from the label’s new music division and key projects from regional and developing artists.
One team will be based in London and the other in New York.
Pietro Paravella and Matthew Tilley will both act as senior VP, global priorities, heading up the London and New York teams respectively. Both were previously senior VP, international marketing at the company.
A third global priorities team is being set up for major releases from EMI’s catalog division. Further details are yet to be announced.
Regional marketing units will support all three teams and a global promotion function will support priority artists. Carole MacDonald will remain VP of this function, a position she has held since last year.
Heading this team will be long-serving EMI staffer, Bart Cools as senior VP, marketing – Europe (including the UK), Howard Handler as executive VP, marketing – North America and Mexico, and Adrian Cheesley as president, rest of world, who adds the title to his existing responsibilities as regional president for the world outside Europe, North America and Mexico.
All roles report to EMI Music’s president of global marketing, Sam van der Feltz.
In other movements, EMI has appointed Susie Smith as a senior advisor to its new music board as she leaves the label to establish her own artist management consultancy.
Formerly senior VP of global marketing, based in London, Smith was also director of global marketing at EMI 2003 to 2005 and worked for several years at Paul McGuinness’ Principle Management (U2, Paddy Casey, Art of Noise).
In her new role, she will be advising the board on new strategies and continue to support global marketing campaigns for major artists.
