EMI Music has appointed Bertrand Bodson to the new role of SVP, global digital marketing, effective June 7. He will be based in London.
Bodson is a co-founder of social networking and viral marketing site Bragster.com, which was acquired by Guinness World Records in February 2010 as part of its online expansion plan.
Bodson previously launched and ran Amazon.com’s DVD rental and subscription businesses in Europe.
He will be responsible for leading and developing EMI’s global digital marketing strategy, reporting to Ernesto Schmitt, president of central marketing and of its catalog division.
Syd Schwartz, formerly EMI Music North America’s SVP of digital strategy, has moved into a consultancy role with the company.
“Bertrand will be a great addition to our marketing team,” said Schmitt in a statement. “He has operated in the digital space for most of his career, he is entrepreneurial and he has a strong track record of developing leading edge digital strategies and tools.”
