Elvis Costello and The Roots will release their album, “Wise Up Ghost,” on Sept. 7 via Blue Note Records, it was revealed today.
The album was recorded at Feliz Habitat Studios and at Costello’s Hookery Crookery Studios, and produced by Steven Mandel with Costello and The Roots leader Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson.
There should be some latin flavor to at least one album track, titled “Cinco Minutos Con Vos,” which features guest vocals by La Santa Cecilia lead singer La Marisoul.
Questlove revealed the collaborative album was in the works in an interview with Billboard back in January, calling the pairing “love at first sight.”
The “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” bandleader told Billboard that during the recording process, “we had 13 or 14 songs, but then we said, ‘Ooh! Wait a minute! Let’s replace four of these songs with four better songs! And now we have the tightest 12-14 song collection out of about 20 songs that we made.”
On the finished product, Questo exclaimed, “I can just say that it is brilliant.”
