Elton John is scheduled to travel to Mexico to perform in a “concert for peace” at the Omnilife Stadium in Guadalajara on Feb. 24, according to a spokesperson for the event.
The artist will perform at the modern stadium with reports indicating that up to about 30,000 fans will be able to purchase tickets. The concert will carry the theme of peace in an effort to unite the country during trying times. Attendees are being encouraged by several online sites to wear white during the concert.
John is also scheduled to perform (with Ray Cooper) March 2-3 in Mexico City’s National Auditorium, according to the singer’s site. Additionally, he’ll be performing in Las Vegas at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in the show “The Million Dollar Piano” from Feb. 9-18, and then from April 13-19.
Formerly known as Chivas Stadium, the Omnilife Stadium is one of Mexico’s biggest entertainment venues that, depending on the setup, can seat nearly 50,000 people. The opening and closing ceremonies for the 2011 Pan American Games in October were held at the stadium.
Tickets to the Omnilife event in Mexico range from about $36 to $240, according superboletos.com.
