“I thought it would be a good idea not to talk about Blake, to see what happened,” Gwen Stefani told Ellen DeGeneres when she stopped by her show to discuss her live music video performance at this year’s Grammys and, at DeGeneres’ insistence, her boyfriend Blake Shelton.
It was recently announced that Stefani will return to NBC’s The Voice next season as a mentor on Shelton’s team. DeGeneres slyly asked the singer, “So when he popped the big question…about you being his mentor, how did he do that?”
The host’s not-so-subtle attempt to get more gossip out of Stefani about her high profile relationship sent the No Doubt star into laughter. “Did you rehearse that before?” she asked DeGeneres, who proudly admitted she did.
Regarding Stefani’s “Make Me Like You” video that premiered live at the 2016 Grammys, the two revealed how she had actually used a body double who at one point fell down during the performance. DeGeneres apparently texted Stefani afterwards, concerned that she had hurt herself. “That was a double, bitch!” Stefani texted her back.
