The new song features Jessica Jarrell, who was previously featured on Justin Bieber’s “Overboard” in 2010. “Hold,” recorded entirely in Elephante’s bedroom, stays true to the artist’s dance music repertoire while taking inspiration from 90s hip-hop.
“This song was a ton of fun to make. I was in the studio with Jessica and my friend Peter from RUMORS, and it was one of those times that everything just flowed and we just fed off each other and wrote this really special vocal,” said Elephante, whose favorite line from the single is “smile for the camera ‘cuz the world’s on fire.”
“For a while I actually had no idea what to do with the production, but one day I was on a plane and this funky 90s hip-hop thing popped in my head and I knew it was perfect,” he said. “It’s a bit of a new sound for me, but I’m really proud of how the song turned out and hope you guys love it as much as I do!”
“Hold” follows the artist’s previous breakout singles “Catching On” and “Closer,” which peaked at No. 22 on The Dance/Mix Show Airplay. I Am The Elephante is scheduled for release Sept. 14 and is available for pre-order now.
