Venezuelan pop star José Luis Rodríguez, better known for his nickname, “El Puma,” is releasing an album that pays homage to Argentine icon Sandro.
The album “Mi Amigo El Puma,” named after the hit song, will be released in the first quarter and was produced by Adrian Posse. The executive producer is Miguel Sierralta, who is negotiating various distribution deals in different territories.
Sandro penned the track “Mi Amigo El Puma” in the 1970s. The song subsequently inspired soap opera writer Delia Fiallo to create the character “El Puma” for Rodríguez in the soap opera “Una Muchacha Llamada Milagros.” The role made Rodríguez a star throughout the Latin America and earned him his moniker.
El Puma is also planning a second album, of duets, due out later in the year.
