Merengue star El Cata, Puerto Rican Rock/reggae band Cultura Profética, rising reggaetón duo Dyland & Lenny and bachata newcomers 24 Horas will perform at the annual Billboard Bash, taking place April 27 at Mansion in Miami Beach as the prelude to the Billboard Latin Music Awards and immediately following the closing day of panels for the Billboard Latin Music Conference. All four performers are Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists.
Dominican singer/songwriter El Cata is up for two Billboard Latin Music Awards for his collaboration with Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira on the Spanish version of her single “Loca.” Dyland & Lenny are finalists in the Latin Rhythm Airplay Artist of the Year, Duo or Group category, while Cultura Profética’s “La Dulzura” LP is up for a Latin Pop Album Artist of the Year, Duo or Group award. Finally, 24 Horas are finalists in the Tropical Album Artist of the Year, Duo or Group category. The trio released their album “Los Inolvidables” and its single “Mami dame un beso” in 2010.
The annual Bash is the prelude to the Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm, which will air live on the Telemundo Network from the BankUnited Center in Miami April 28; Enrique Iglesias, Gloria Trevi, Luis Fonsi and others will perform during the show, Billboard announced last week. The Bash, which celebrates finalists to the awards, caps off the Billboard Latin Music Conference, presented by State Farm in association with AT&T, and honors the top labels, publishers and songwriters of the year.
For the first time, the Bash will also honor “The Best Live Show of the Year,” an award created by Billboard and digital service Eventful, which was determined by fans voting for their favorite show on the Eventful website.
This year, the Bash will also feature a new artist showcase with performances by Colombian singer/songwriter Rakel and Abel Ullón, the winner of Time Warner Cable’s contest “Alcanza La Fama.”
The event will also feature a performance by the winner of Western Union’s “Love In Any Language” contest, which will be announced by reggaetón star Daddy Yankee during a press conference at the Billboard Latin Music Conference.
