Anxious to sing along to a new Ed Sheeran tune? The U.K. superstar is finally granting that wish, as his new single, “Sing,” will be released on Monday (Apr. 8).
The “A Team” star posted the news on Instagram, adding that the song will premiere on Zane Lowe’s show on BBC Radio 1 on Monday at 7:30. “Lots of other stuff happening this weekend leading up to it, so watch this space…. #sing,” he added, in a move that will no doubt make his Instagram follower count explode.
Sheeran has been hinting at the follow-up to his 2011 album “+” for months, telling Billboard at the GRAMMYs that the sophomore album would be coming out “in the next few months.” The singer-songwriter worked with Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams and Jake Gosling on the album, and has been writing songs for the album for the better part of three years.
After opening for Taylor Swift on her Red tour last year, Sheeran headlined multiple dates at New York’s Madison Square Garden last fall. The 23-year-old will take the “Saturday Night Live” — to sing “Sing,” no doubt — on Apr. 12.
