Over a piano loop, Earl spits about his once-absent father, relationship with Tyler (of Odd Future) and his inner thoughts: “I’m indecisive, I’m scatterbrained and I’m frightened it’s evident / And them eyes where he hiding all those icicles at.”
His solo major label debut LP and joint collaboration “EarlWolf,” with Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator, will be released under his own imprint, Tan Cressida, in partnership with Columbia Records. The full-length will have Tyler, the Creator, Domo Genesis, Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, the Neptunes and the Alchemist as guests.
In February, Earl returned from the Coral Reef Academy with previously unreleased song, “Home.” He’s since performed with Odd Future in NYC, appeared on “The OF Tape Vol. 2” song, “Oldie,” and “Channel Orange,” song, “Super Rich Kids.”
A release date for the 2010 “Earl” follow-up has yet to be announced, but he hinted that his new music is evolving — even if it means losing fans. “That’s what matters. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you can hear the progression,” he tweeted.
“Chum” is a taste of what’s to come.
