“Long Road Out Of Eden” (Polydor) gives the Eagles a third week in total — and second consecutively — atop Billboard’s European Top 100 Albums chart, as titles by Andrea Bocelli and James Blunt make good progress. There’s no change at No. 1 on Eurochart Top 100 Singles either, as “Apologize” (Mosley/Blackground/Interscope) by Timbaland presents One Republic starts a fourth week at the helm.
The Eagles’ album scores another week at No. 1 in Greece and moves back 5-4 in the United Kingdom. A new challenge to its European crown comes from Bocelli’s “Vivere” (Sugar/Universal), which vaults from No. 9 to a new peak of No. 2 in its seventh week on Top 100 Albums. The Italian tenor’s retrospective set benefits from climbs of 4-2 in Greece, 10-4 in Portugal, 8-6 in the United Kingdom and 9-8 in Italy, but it’s down 1-2 in Hungary.
Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” (Universal Island) celebrates its first birthday on the pan-European chart with a return to the top three. In its 52nd week on the survey, it’s up 4-3 after rising 2-1 in Switzerland and 8-5 in France.
Blunt’s “All The Lost Souls” (Custard/Atlantic) is resurgent this week, climbing 15-4 in week 12 on Top 100 Albums. That’s after jumps of 14-5 in Germany and 24-14 in the United Kingdom.
Celine Dion’s “Taking Chances” (Columbia), which topped the European survey for two weeks before last week dropping to No. 2, falls again to No. 5. The album concedes top spot to Winehouse in Switzerland, falling 1-4, and drifts 16-25 in the United Kingdom.
Led Zeppelin’s “Mothership” compilation (Atlantic) is down 3-6 on the overall chart, although it holds at No. 3 in Greece and No. 5 in Ireland. According to midweek U.K. sales data, it looks set for a sales boost there after the group’s much-publicized reunion concert at the 02 Arena on Monday.
Die Ärzte’s “Jazz Ist Anders” (Hot Action) keeps hold of last week’s No. 7 spot on Top 100 Albums, as it racks up a fifth week at No. 1 in Germany. Leona Lewis spends a second week at No. 8 on the composite list, and a fourth at the top in the United Kingdom, where her debut set “Spirit” (Syco Music/Sony BMG) has sales of 918,000 to last Saturday night. It’s up 3-2 in Ireland, but is still behind there in its battle with another Syco artist, Shayne Ward, whose second album “Breathless” spends a second week at No. 1.
Eros Ramazotti’s “E2” (Ariola), which reached No. 2 on Top 100 Albums four weeks ago, bounces back 11-9 after a 6-2 climb in Switzerland, although it makes the reverse move in Spain. Rihanna’s “Good Girl Gone Bad” (SRP/Def Jam) rounds out the pan-European top ten, holding at No. 10.
Timbaland’s fourth week atop the Eurochart is also his tenth in total at No. 1 on that survey this year, after “Give It To Me” (featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado) had two weeks at the summit in April and “The Way I Are” (featuring Keri Hilson and DOE) four in August and September. “Apologize” is No. 1 again in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Sweden and top five in Norway, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Holland and the Belgian region of Flanders.
