Anyone who still refers to the genre as “country and western” will get a surprise when they tune in to the 42nd Annual Country Music Association Awards on Nov. 12. The Eagles, Kid Rock, the Wailers, Trace Adkins, Lady Antebellum join the growing list of performers for the show.
The Eagles are nominated in the vocal group category this year while new group Lady Antebellum is also up in that category and for the new artist award as well. Kid Rock, who was a presenter on last year’s show, is currently at No. 4 on Hot Country Songs with “All Summer Long.” The Wailers, best known for their work with Bob Marley, will join Kenny Chesney on the first live televised performance of their No. 1 collaboration, “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven,” from Chesney’s new set “Lucky Old Sun.”
Adkins is nominated for single and music video of the year for “You’re Gonna Miss This.”
As previously reported, performers include co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, along with Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban.
The show airs live from the Sommet Center in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
