Electronic Arts continues to solidify its position as a leader in the convergence of music and video games. Following the successful release of “Def Jam: Vendetta” and “Def Jam: Fight for New York,” EA and Def Jam Enterprises have extended their partnership with a multiyear exclusive agreement that will deliver next-generation video games in multiple genres.
The first game to be released under the agreement has the working title of “Def Jam 3.” It will be a fighting game that builds on the popular Mature-rated franchise already established on PlayStation 2 and Xbox. In development at EA Chicago under the EA brand, “Def Jam 3” is designed to infuse the urban lifestyle and hip-hop music culture into the series’ fighting mechanic to deliver a next-generation street-fighting game.
Electronic Arts group vp marketing Jeff Karp said the game will look, feel and sound like a cutting-edge music video with the intensity and drama of a big-budget action film.
