American indie record label and distributor, Dynasty Records, has launched a Canadian division, the company announced today.
The company, which was operated in the U.S. for two decades says it will offer Canadian artists “unprecedented access to worldwide distribution,” as well as retail outlets. The company says Canadian artists will have access to over 250 digital services, including iTunes, Amazon and Bell Canada, as well as the ability to put their recording in Canadian retailers like HMV and CD Plus. More distribution agreements are in the works, the company says, adding in the U.S. the business distributes music to more than 800 retail stores, including Trans World Entertainment.
The Canadian arm of the company will offer royalty rates and distribution deals competitive with key Canadian distributors, according to Dynasty Records president Debbie Saklofske. “We will do this by providing exceptional service to the artists we work with,” she said in a statement. “We realize that without them we are nothing.”
The company says it will offer distribution deals free of charge to Canadian acts until the end of February.
