Classic rock fans better clear their calendars for October. Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, The Who, Rogers Waters and Rolling Stones all posted videos over the weekend making a cryptic reference to “October.” Billboard previously reported the aforementioned acts were in talks with Goldenvoice Entertainment to play a festival this October at the site of Coachella in Indio, Calif.
While Neil Young had also been rumored as a potential headliner for the festival, as of press time he has not posted a promotional videos. Check out the five videos that went live over the weekend:
The rumored concert event could boast one of the biggest talent budgets in history, even for a three-day festival; one source said the top headliners on the bill are guaranteed as much as $7 million each, with the possibility of a second weekend still being discussed. A spokesperson for Goldenvoice could not be reached for comment at press time.
Discussions have been underway for more than nine months. All six acts have made verbal commitments, but as recently as last week contract details were still being worked out, mostly over production issues such as what production each act will bring, sound check timing and other logistics. All headliners will perform full sets, with full stadium-level production.
